Social Media, Chat apps, kittens on the web… It looks like the Web is developed to distract us while we’re working on our laptop.
I learned it the hard way, and I’m here to tell you how to get rid of distractions and maximize your time using 3 FREE Tools.
If you missed the other 2 articles of this series, go back and watch them cause I’ve listed how to grow an online business on the side if you’re stuck in a 9-to-5 job!
Back to the topic of this video, if you’re a solo entrepreneur, bringing your business on with a laptop, there’s 90% chance that you’re wasting the majority of your time.
If you can spend just a fraction of your day creating your online business, you can’t waste it away. You need to be sure you’re 100% making that little time profitable.
Understand to have a problem
The first step for a solution is always to recognize to have a problem, and based on my personal experience, is really difficult to realize you’re wasting time on your laptop.
The first tool I’m bringing up is precisely about this. It will show you how much time you’re throwing down the drain.
RESCUETIME
RescueTime helps you understand your daily habits so you can focus and be more productive.
It runs in the background on your computer and tracks the time spent on applications and websites, giving you an accurate picture of your day.
I honestly tell you that the reports I got when I started using it were shocking.
Getting rid of distractions
If the result from RescueTime isn’t that encouraging, you probably have a problem of lack of attention.
The next tool I’m presenting, shut down the majority of distractions on the web, giving you the freedom to focus on your work.
FREEDOM
Freedom can block the access to the most popular website and software online like facebook, twitter, youtube and many others.
You can set the time for your freedom session, and during that time, you won’t be able to use any of these services.
Procrastinate behaviour
Procrastination means avoiding to start a task that needs to be completed, despite its negative consequences. We’re all guilty of this, especially if we need to do the work after a long, stressful day in your job environment.
In the late 1980s, Francesco Cirillo invented a time management method that uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks.
The technique, called Pomodoro Technique, has inspired many management apps.
BE FOCUSED
Be Focused lets you combine a to-do list with the Pomodoro Technique, and it provides reports showing exactly where you spent your focus time each day, week, month, year, and even across all time.
Now you have the entire picture to work on your side project while your working and move 100% on your project just when it will become profitable.
If you want everything I talked about in this 3 video listed on a pdf, [thrive_2step id=’1391′]I’ve created a document[/thrive_2step] with all the information packed together, so you won’t have to go through the 3 videos again.

If you have any question related to building an online business, write it in the comments, and let’s have a discussion there.
For the rest, I’ll see you in the next video. Cheers.
